There are 4 billion light bulb sockets in the U.S. more than 3 billion of them still use the standard incandescent bulbs that Thomas Edison created in 1879. While standard incandescent bulbs have been lighting our country for years, approximately 90% of the energy they use creates heat, not light. That's why they are being phased out over a three year period that began January 1st. A Home Depot expert was on the mid day show to us what new in light bulbs.
