This is an annual at the Bruce family Thanksgiving. Since I am usually working that day it is an easy make ahead dish I can contribute. Also good over vanilla ice cream.

SPICED CRANBERRIES

(makes three cups , 6-8 servings)

12 oz (one package) fresh cranberries 3/4 c. water 1 c. sugar 2 sticks cinnamon 5 pinches of ground cloves 3 pinches of ground allspice 1/2 sliced orange

Wash cranberries, drain and remove stems. Place in 3 1/2 qt. saucepan. Add water. Stir in sugar and ground spices. Add cinnamon and orange slices. Cook covered over medium heat until berries burst (about 10 min.) Cool. Refrigerate in covered dish overnight. Serve cold.
