EAST ST. LOUIS (KTVI)– Retaliation in East St. Louis after a man is murdered outside of a night club Sunday night.
Since then, police say nearly a dozen homes linked to the suspects have been hit with gunfire.
Thursday East St. Louis Police released surveillance video in hopes of identifying the suspects before an innocent bystander is hurt.
The surveillance video shows two men leaving Club 103, which is directly behind the police station on Sunday night right after the shooting.
Police say the two are suspected of murdering 23-year old Steven Holmes.
Police say since Holmes’ death people affiliated with Holmes and the suspects have waged a gun war against each other.
Police say they want these two men in custody before someone else is killed.
Authorities obtained the surveillance video from a number of cameras surrounding the club.
Police say this first clip could be the key to identifying one of the men.
He`s wearing a red tee-shirt with RIP DRE on the back.
Police say that refers to another man who was killed last year.
The next shot shows the two turning a corner and walking down the street near club 103.
Watch as one of the suspects ducks into a doorway as a car drives by.
Police say the other man has a distinctive walk.
Finally, the two walk through a bank parking lot.
One guy’s hands are in his pockets as the other checks over his shoulder.
East St. Louis police say since the shooting Sunday night near Club 103, the two groups are in a gun war.
Chief Michael Floore said, ‘It’s vital and very important that we bring this to a halt. Innocent people are going to get killed if we don`t stop it and we really don’t know the whole jest to why all these shootings are going on.’
Police suspect most of the problems are linked to drugs and gangs.
