Court Declares Missouri Flag Desecration Statute Unconstitutional

Missouri’s law prohibiting flag desecration is ruled unconstitutional. A federal court ruled on behalf of the ACLU who filed the suit on behalf of a man arrested and held in jail for eight hours after attempting to burn an American flag. The court held that statute is invalid because  it prohibits a substantial amount of protected speech.
