(CNN) - The governor Terry Branstad of Iowa is standing up for pink, wearing a shirt that read, “Dude, It's Beef" at a rally at Iowa State University.  He wore the shirt in defense of companies in his state that make the controversial beef additive known as pink slime.

The FDA insists the ammonia treated filler is safe.  But the USDA says school districts may stop using it and some grocery chains have pulled products containing it from their shelves.
