Blues Fans Play In Scavenger Hunt For Playoff Tickets
ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)– Some lucky Blues fans are holding free tickets to Saturday night`s playoff games against the Kings, but they had to work to get them. Actually, they had to find them.
The Blues are holding a ticket hunt before every playoff game, giving clues out their own website, and on Facebook and Twitter.
“I think it is going to be a mad dash. I think it is going to be insane,” said Jon Mathews who was sitting in his car in a parking lot near Hampton and Highway 40, based on the first clue given by the team.
The clues are given out in three parts; the first a general location, the second a time and the third, a photo of the actual location.
Devoted fans began gathering in the Hardees parking lot just before 1:00 p.m., hoping to find the first pair of free tickets.
After the Blues` mascot Louie showed up to add a little pep, they knew they were close, and when Becky LePage of O`Fallon, Missouri saw the third and final clue was a speed limit sign, she knew she had won, because she was standing across from it.
“I got there just in time and there was so many people standing right here in this area looking and I just saw the corner of the ticket barely and I was like that`s them,” LePage said.
Others who had been standing in the same general vicinity were kicking themselves.
“Missed by this much, just by this much,” said Shaun Dotson, hoIding his thumb and forefinger about an inch apart. “I walked right by it none the wiser. I am so upset,” he said.
The team gave out a second pair of tickets on the Archgrounds at 3:30 p.m., and at the Toys R` Us in Sunset Hills at 6:00 p.m.
The team plans another ticket giveaway on Monday for game two.
