Severe Storms Hit St. Louis Area

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Severe storms struck the St. Louis area Saturday afternoon and evening.  A storm that moved through downtown St. Louis around 3:00pm caused a tent to collapse at downtown St. Louis bar where Cardinals fans had gathered at the afternoon game. One person was killed, reportedly struck by lightning, and more than a hundred were injured.

That storm went on to create dangerously large hail in St. Clair County in Illinois and points farther east along I-64 in Illinois.

A second storm moved through St. Louis County around 6:00pm creating a trail of damage thanks to golf ball to baseball sized hail. Cars were damaged at the KTVI/KPLR studios in Maryland Heights with large dimples and many broken windshields.
