Braves Beat Cardinals 9-7 in 12 Innings
The Braves Jason Heyward cracked a two run home run off Kyle McClellan in the 12th inning to beat the Cardinals 9-7 on Friday night at Busch Stadium. The loss spoiled a magic night for the sold out crowd that honored former Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa. Jersey #10 was retired by the Cardinals and LaRussa and many of his longtime baseball friends addressed the enthusiastic crowd.
The Cardinals overcame a 5-1 deficit in the game thanks to four home runs. Carlos Beltran hit two of.them including one into “Big Mac Land”. Matt Carpenter and Allen Craig also hit home runs for St. Louis. Beltran also had four hits and 4 RBI in the game. The Cardinals had golden opportunities to win the game leaving the bases loaded in both the 10th and 11th innings.
