FLORISSANT, MO (KTVI )- Authorities in Florissant reported a case of overnight vandalism to a restored Cold War era fighter aircraft. The plane is on display on park grounds near the Eagan Civic Center Saturday.

Vandals spray painted the Air Force F-101F 'Voodoo' with graffiti and set it on fire. The fire damage was not extensive.

Park Director Ron Veach said he was extremely disappointed; the vandals disrespected the military, their community, and the retired McDonnell Aircraft workers who restored the plane as a labor of love.

The plane was originally commissioned in 1960.  It was dedicated in Florissant in 2004.  He said he’d be trying to line up volunteers to repaint the plane.  He also said police were checking video from nearby surveillance cameras to try to track any suspects.
