Berkman placed on Disabled List, Adams called up from Memphis

The injury woes continue for the Cardinals. On Sunday, the team placed 1st baseman Lance Berkman on the 15 day disabled list with a right knee injury that he sustained during Saturday’s nights 6-0 loss to the Dodgers.

The Cardinals have reached down to their triple A team, the Memphis Redbirds and recalled 1st baseman Matt Adams to take Berkman’s spot on the roster. Adams, the organization’s minor league player of the year in 2011 was hitting .340 this season at Memphis. Adams also had 9 home runs and 27 runs batted in. Adams will be in uniform with the Cardinals Sunday night in Los Angeles for their getaway game with the Dodgers. Adams will wear #53.
