MoDOT Warning Drivers About Blanchette Closure
ST. CHARLES, MO (KTVI) – Before the Missouri Department of Transportation shuts down half of the Blanchette Bridge in November 2012, MoDOT will offer some help to worried drivers.
St. Charles drivers can speak out on the project this afternoon. MoDOT is having a public meeting. Employers can have their say, too.
The rebuild is so large, MoDOT will start prepping the bridge and detours this summer. Expect lane closures near the Earth City Expressway and the bridge.
Residents tell us they are worried about their fuel costs going up because of the longer trip through the detour. Business owners are worried no one will bother to come shopping here. They are also worried their employees will have trouble getting to work on-time.
The City of St. Charles has developed an online map to help customers and employees navigate the construction zone. Also, MoDOT encourages drivers to use the alternate routes rather than wasting gas sitting in clogged traffic on the bridge.
