Robbery Leads To 100mph Bi-State Police Chase

BRENTWOOD, MO (KTVI) - A bold robbery outside a Brentwood jewelry store lead police on an hour long chase through three counties. Police believe the driver is behind the hold up of a customer who was leaving the Shane Company at the Brentwood Promenade.

St. Louis police took the suspect into custody after an hour long bi-state chase across three counties. It all started at around 12:15pm when the suspect robbed a woman at the Brentwood promenade parking lot near Shane Company.

Brentwood police put out a description. Soon after the suspect was spotted by North County police the chase was on. The chase ended in the Baden neighborhood in North city. St Louis City, County and other law enforcement joined the pursuit.

"The pursuit ran through the city then went to Illinois and came back down 70 where it ended at this location. The car is coming back stolen from the Southside of the city. The suspect is wanted for robbery he has an extensive record." said St. Louis City Police Dept Lt. Ryan Cousins  

Kimberly Wilkins says her friends were in the mist of the chase and had to get off of the freeway.

During the chase the suspect was going the wrong direction, west in the east bound lanes on the Popular street bridge.

"They told me they were in a high speed chase. They were behind them and said the man was swerved. They almost got he almost hit a lot of cars." said Kimberly Wilkins.

The un-named suspect is facing robbery and auto theft charges. Police say luckily the chase ended with no injuries.
