INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (AP) – Authorities are investigating after a 3-year-old died from a gunshot wound in a suburban Kansas City home. The Kansas City Star reported that the child was dead when police arrived at the Independence home around 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Police Capt. Ed Turner says no one has been arrested and that family members are cooperating with the investigation. He declined to say whether the shooting was accidental. But police are using the death to remind gun owners to keep their
weapons secure and locked up.
