Update:  The Collinsville Area Recreation District Board has voted to start the process of pulling the plug on the Miner’s Theater Renovation project.

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - A Collinsville Park District may be ready to pull the plug on a project, one that has already cost taxpayers more than a million dollars.  A commissioner tells investigator, Elliott Davis, that they plan to take up the fate of the expensive "Miner's Theater Project”.

This project would include renovating the old theater, redoing the facade, fixing the stage, installing in a sprinkler system, and replacing the roof.  It will take another $8 million to finish, which is money the Collinsville Park District doesn't have.

“Without money in the bank or money on the horizon we've got to face the reality of the situation that we cannot afford to finish this project”, stated Andrew Curruthers.
