Carlos Beltran had 2 hits and 4 RBI’s in his first game in his return to Kauffman Stadium, as the Cardinals pounded the Kansas City Royals 11-4. The Cards ripped Royals starter Vin Mazzaro (3-2)  for 7 earned runs over just 1 and 1/3 innings. Every Cardinal in the batting order had a least one hit apiece. David Freese and Matt Holliday had 3 hits each for the Redbirds. Joe Kelly (1-0) picked up his first career win after pitching 6 innings, and allowing 3 runs in his 3rd major league start. Beltran made his first visit back to Kansas City since his trade to the Houston Astros in 2004. Beltran played 7 years with the Royals.
