Police ID Victims In Kirkwood Motorcycle Accident
UPDATE: Victims from Thursday motorcycle accident identified as vacationing Michigan couple. Police say Jeffrey and Ronda Gallagher, both 49-years-old,of Fenwick, Michigan were visiting family.
KIRKWOOD, MO (KPLR) – The Fourth of July is one of the deadliest travel times on the road and it proved deadly Thursday afternoon in Kirkwood. That is where two people were killed in a motorcycle accident.
The area along Big Bend Road and Holmes Avenue was shut down for about five hours while accident scene investigators gather evidence.
Around 12:00pm a man and woman in their 40s or 50s were riding a motorcycle westbound along Big Bend. The motorcycle collided with the passenger side of a car turning left from the eastbound lane of Big Bend. The two people on the motorcycle were taken to an area hospital and were pronounced dead soon after.
The driver of the car was a man in his 70s was treated and released a the scene. He was the only person in the car.
Investigators say they don’t know the cause of the accident at this time. They have not released the identities of the two people on the motorcycle.
Traffic in the area of Big Bend Road and Holmes Avenue along with the Interstate 44 exit ramp is being diverted until the investigation is complete. Investigators are also looking for surveillance video from the scene.
