SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) – Authorities in southwestern Missouri are following a tip about a possible body at the home of a man who was shot to death by police.

The Springfield News-Leader reports investigators are testing the contents of a trash can removed Wednesday outside a Springfield house. The home was the last known address of Adam Bergseth, 37. Bergseth was shot to death last Saturday by Marionville police in neighboring Lawrence County.

Police said an officer responded to a call about a woman being held against her will. Bergseth allegedly threatened the officer with a pair of scissors before the officer opened fire. Springfield police aren’t commenting about the tip, except to say Marionville police advised them to check for a body at Bergseth’s last known address.
