(KTVI) - The St. Louis County medical examiner has confirmed the county's first heat death.  Authorities say a 72-year-old Velma Henderson was found dead in her home on Friday.

The temperature inside the home on Winchester Avenue was 97.4 degrees and her body temperature was 106.

The medical examiner's office say the woman's central air unit was not working and a window unit was blowing hot air.

Neighbors were trying to help her get the AC fixed, but said she did not qualify for assistance because her income was too high.
