Rafael Furcal, Matt Holliday and Carlos Beltran all scored runs in the National League’s 8-0 win over the American league in the 83rd All-Star Game held Tuesday night in Kansas City.

The National League broke the game open early with a five run first inning. Carlos Beltran walked in the opening frame and scored on the Giants Pablo Sandoval’s three run triple. Furcal started at shortstop for the NL and went 1 for 3 with a 4th inning triple. Furcal scored on pinch hitter Matt Holliday’s single to right field making it a 6-0 NL lead. David Freese got into the All-Star game in the 6th inning. He struck out in his only at bat. Pitcher Lance Lynn did not appear in the game.

So Tony LaRussa’s one game return to the dugout is a success. The National League  winning the All-Star Game for the third straight year. That means the NL team will have home field advantage in this year’s World Series.
