Ludwick’s Walkoff Homer against old Team Sinks Cards 3-2
Former Cardinal Ryan Ludwick hit a tenth inning walk off home run off the Cards Victor Marte giving the Reds a 3-2 win over the Cardinals on Saturday.
The Cardinals had battled back from a 2-0 deficit thanks to a Yadier Molina solo home run and a Rafael Furcal bunt single that scored the game’s tieing run.
The Reds will go for the series sweep tomorrow in Cincinnati. The loss drops the Cardinals three and a half game behind both the Reds and the Pirates in the NL Central.
Before the game, the Cardinals announced that they had signed former Athletics left handed relief pitcher Brian Fuentes. He had been released by Oakland two weeks ago. Fuentes will report to the Cardinals Class A Jupiter team for a couple of weeks to get back into Major League pitching form before joining the Cardinals.
