A costly throwing error by Cardinals 1st baseman Allen Craig fueled the Reds rally and Cincinnati knocked off the Cards 5-3 on Friday night. The Redbirds had built up 2-0 lead thanks to a Skip Schumaker RBI single and a Matt Holliday ground out. Adam Wainwright gave up a solo home run to the Reds Todd Frazier to cut the Cards lead to 2-1. Then came the error by Craig on Ryan Hanigan’s infield single. The error allowed two runs to score and gave the Reds a 3-2 lead.

The Cardinals tried to rally in the eighth inning when pinch-hitter Shane Robinson delivered an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-3. Ryan Ludwick celebrated his 34th birthday with an RBI triple off his old team to give the Reds some cushion at 5-3.

Adam Wainwright suffered the loss. His record drops to 7-9. The Cardinals play the Reds Saturday afternoon. You can see the game right here on Fox 2. Our “Red Zone” pre game show starts at 1:30 PM, followed by the game broadcast at 2:30 PM.
