Officer-Involved Shooting In South St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-- A suspect is hospitalized after an officer-involved shooting in south St. Louis.

This happened around 4 p.m. Wednesday at 37th and Meramec.

Police say a vehicle was pulled over by an officer. The driver of the vehicle bailed out of the vehicle and started running from the officer. The officer chased him down.

Police say there was a struggle and the officer's weapon went off hitting the suspect in the side. The suspect was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

A weapon was recovered at the scene.

No officer was injured in the shooting.

A woman who was in the suspect car jumped into the driver side and took off. She was located along with the car.

Police say the reason for the stop was because the suspect was driving a white Chevy Impala with dark tinted windows. Police have information that someone driving a white Chevy Impala with tinted windows has been impersonating a police officer and pulling people over.
