The Cardinals three game winning streak ended Monday night with the Dodgers beating the Redbirds 5-3 at Busch Stadium.

Lance Berkman put the Cards on top with an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning, but his second inning error opened the flood gates for a three run Dodgers outburst. After another Cardinals misplay by Rafael Furcal put two runners on, Luis Cruz’s three run home run off Cardinals starting pitcher Joe Kelly, gave L.A. a 3-1 lead.

The Dodgers padded their lead with Mark Ellis’ two run double to make it a 5-1 lead. Carlos Beltran hit his 22nd homer of the season, a two run shot to cut the L.A. lead to 5-3, but that’s as close as the Cardinals would get.

The pitching matchup for game two of this series Tuesday at Busch Stadium is a big one. Clayton Kershaw for the Dodgers against the Cards Adam Wainwright.
