ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Several lanes of northbound I-55 were shut down Monday morning cramping the morning commute.

As many as 20 cars got flat tires or some sort of undercarriage damage because of large metal and rock debris in the highway.  The call came out about 4:45 a.m. and crews had to close three lanes of I-55 northbound at Arsenal.

At one point, traffic was backed up for five miles while crews tried to clear the debris from the road.   Several lanes were reopened by 8 a.m.
