Cards Finally Score Runs for Kelly, Beat Brewers 9-3

The Cardinals offense finally scored some runs for starting pitcher Joe Kelly and the young righthander beat the Brewers 9-3. It was Kelly’s 2nd major league win. Kelly gave up three second inning runs, but the Cardinals responded with four runs in their half of the 4th inning. Kelly capped the four run inning with an RBI single to give the Cards a 4-3 lead.

The Brewers committed four errors in the game as the Cardinals padded their lead with two runs in the 6th and three runs in the bottom of the 8th inning. Yadier Molina returned to the lineup after missing one game with a bruised right thumb and contributed three hits and two runs scored. Daniel Descalso had two hits and drove in two runs.

The win keeps the Cardinals eight games back of the first place Reds. They beat the Pirates 3-0.
