JEFFESON CITY, Mo. (AP) – Susan Montee has defeated a crowded field in Missouri’s Democratic primary for lieutenant governor primary.

Montee is a former Missouri state auditor. Unofficial returns Tuesday showed her outdistancing seven Democratic rivals in a relatively low-key campaign.

Several Republicans were battling in a contentious primary that included the incumbent, Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder.
