Woman Dead, Son Shot Inside Cahokia Home

CAHOKIA, ILLINOIS ( KTVI)- A man is charged with shooting and killing his wife and also shooting his son in Cahokia, IL. The son survived.  It happened early Saturday in 500 block of Cooper.  Authorities have charged Ovie Sumpter, 57, with murder and attempted murder in the death of his 53 year old wife, Tina; and the shooting their 23 year old son, Jason. 

Police were called to the home of Jason Sumpter Saturday. He had been shot and feared for his mother’s life. The woman, Tina Sumpter, was found dead elsewhere in the home from a gunshot wound to the head.
