Man Charged In Fatal Bridgeton Shooting

BRIDGETON, MO (KTVI) – A man has been charged in a fatal shooting in Bridgeton.

Police responded to a shooting near the 4100 block of Stonehart Friday around 10:30am.  When they got to the scene they found a 33-year-old man lying dead in the street with a gunshot wound.

Metro Air Support and police departments in the area were called in to help search for the suspect.   About an hour later Bridgeton police took 24-year-old Ray Hickman in custody. 

Hickman was charged with 1st degree murder and armed criminal action. He is held without bond.

Holman Middle School is close to the place where the shooting occurred.  The school was placed on lock-down while police searched for a suspect.  That lock down has ended now that a suspect has been found.

The victim’s identity is being held until his family is notified.
