WASHINGTON PARK, IL (KTVI)-Charges of promoting prostitution and aggravated criminal sexual abuse were issued Saturday against a Washington Park man accused by a 19-year old of holding her hostage for years.

A 25-year old Steven E. Johnson is locked up on a $2 million bond.  He also faces drug charges and a weapons felony.  St. Clair County State's Attorney Brendan Kelly said Johnson has not been charged with kidnapping, but additional charges could be issued depending on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities also charged the suspect's mother, 54-year old Owida Johnson,  with two misdemeanor counts of child endangerment.

Kelly described the home on Kingshighway in Washington Park as unsafe and unsanitary.  Investigators found exposed wiring, vermin, insect activity, spoiled food and animal feces.  They removed a two year old boy the female victim said she gave birth to while being held against her will.  A 16-year old boy was also turned over to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

Kelly said the female victim is safe and with her family.  (It is the policy of FOX2 News and News Eleven not to use the name of a sexual abuse victim)
