Illinois Will Not Get Expanded Gambling
(KTVI) – Illinois will not get any new casinos and horse racing tracks like Fairmont Park will not be allowed to add slot machines. That’s because Governor Pat Quinn has vetoed a bill that would have expanded gambling in Illinois.
Fairmont Park officials say this means they can only pay winning horses about one-third the amount they would make at racetracks with slots.
This is the second year in a row Illinois lawmakers have okayed a gambling expansion. But both bills died on the governor’s desk.
