Jaime Garcia pitched into the 8th inning on Tuesday night at Busch Stadium and led the Cardinals to a 5-1 win over the Mets. Garcia pitched seven and a third innings allowing just one unearned run while walking no Mets batters and striking out five. He picked up his 4th win of the season and first since returning from his shoulder injury.

The Cardinals got RBI from Jon Jay, Matt Carpenter, David Freese, Skip Schumaker and Daniel Descalso in their ten hit attack on Mets pitching. The only negative to this game, Matt Holliday left the game in the 7th inning with a lower back strain. His status for tomorrow afternoon’s day game with the Mets is unknown.
