Corbin Berkstresser filled in for ailing Mizzou quarterback James Franklin and led the Tigers to a 24-20 win on Saturday night in Columbia. It was Berkstresser’s first collegiate start and it was a success. He complete 21 of 41 passes for 198 yards. Berkstresser also ran for the Tigers first touchdown of the game giving Mizzou a 10-0 lead.
Kendial Lawrence ran for two touchdowns as well. The Tigers held a 24-7 in the 4th quarter before Arizona State mounted a serious rally. The Sun Devils scored two 4th quarter touchdowns and reached the 3 yard line but missed on a 4th and goal pass attempt. Kenronte Walker’s last minute interception sealed the win for the Tigers as Arizona State had marched to the Mizzou 20 yard line.
The win improves Missouri’s record to 2-1. James Franklin did not play in the game due to a sore right shoulder.
