The Los Angeles Dodgers scored two runs in the bottom of the 9th inning off Cardinals closer Jason Motte and won 40-3. The victory ties L.A. with the Cardinals for the second Wild Card spot in the National League. Luis Cruz’s double tied the game at three and Juan Rivera’s single off a leaping Daniel Descalso was the winning hit.

Allen Craig had driven in all three runs for the Cardinals with a two run homer and a single. Jaime Garcia pitched six innings allowing just two runs to get out of his pitching poorly on the road funk.

The Cardinals and Dodgers wrap up their four game series tomorrow with Adam Wainwright facing the Dodgers Clayton Kershaw with the winner taking over solo possession of the Wild Card spot.
