ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)– There’s controversy around the opening of the new multi-million dollar recreation center in north city.

Construction crews finished building the 7,000 square feet facility in O’Fallon Park a few weeks ago, but it’s not open.

Alderman Antonio French accuses Mayor Slay’s administration of delaying the opening by not putting specific language regarding fees in the contract.

However, the St. Louis parks director says plans are in place to make sure the center is accessible to everyone.

French says he wants to make sure the actual agreement, which outlines what people can pay to use the facility is written in the contract and children will have access to the center, too.

Both sides are optimistic the problem will be solved soon.
