Cardinals Honor Paralyzed Police Officer

ST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI) - Paralyzed Florissant police officer Mike Vernon was at Busch stadium Wednesday night to throw out the first pitch between the Cardinals and Houston Astros.  Officer Vernon was shot in the line of duty.

Friends, family, co-workers and community members filled the seats to cheer him on.

The Florissant police department sold tickets with all proceeds benefitting officer Vernon.

Vernon was shot three times by a burglary suspect on May 28, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down.
