Astros pitcher Bud Norris who owns the Cardinals did it to them again on Wednesday night in Houston. Norris pitched into the 8th inning and shut out the Cardinals by the score of 2-0. The Norris win over the Cards ended a 12 game losing streak for the big right hander and ended the Cardinals ten game winning streak over the Astros. Norris had not won a game in his last 18 starts.

Chris Carpenter pitched well for the Cardinals going six innings and allowing just two runs, but he took the loss in just his second start of the season. Both the Dodgers and Brewers won their games on Wednesday night, so the Cardinals NL Wild card lead over both of those teams is down to three and a half games. The Cardinals magic number to clinch the NL Wild Card remains at 4.

The Cardinals return home Friday to finish the regular season with three games against the Nationals and three games vs. the Reds, both playoff teams this season.
