ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)– This could be a huge weekend for the Cardinals and their fans.
The magic number is four and the team could clinch a wild card spot. Dorothy Siegfried was purchasing tickets for Sunday`s game she`s hoping the Red Birds go all the way, “It would be exciting for the city. It would be great, I think they can do it, never say never.”
There are still 3,000 to 5,000 tickets available for the two division series games that would be played in St. Louis. Dan Farrell is Senior Vice President of the Cardinals` Sales and Marketing, “We usually sell out. We definitely will sell out eventually of our division playoff tickets. It`s possible people are waiting to see if we get in for sure before they made the commitment.”
Baseball playoffs are a big plus for folks in the lodging industry. Drury Hotels has four properties within walking distance of Busch Stadium. Alison Casler is a spokeswoman for Drury Hotels. She said, “They are bonus games which obviously helps occupancy on days you might not expected it…it generates a lot of demand and that`s a lot of heads in beds and full rooms.”
Restaurants around the stadium cash in when the Red Birds do well. Mark O`Shaunghnessy owns BB`s Jazz Blues and Soups, “It`s definitely like a holiday because it`s extra business…at least doubles and sometime it can be as much as quadrupling the business.”
Cardinals officials said for only $25 fans can still purchase a ticket for the first round of playoffs.
