HAZELWOOD, MO (KTVI) – A major interchange in Hazelwood at Lindbergh and Interstate 270 is going to have a new look starting this weekend.
Starting Saturday there will be a new off-ramp from I-270 east onto Lindbergh north.
Drivers will be dealing with a new traffic signal when the ramp intersects with Lindbergh, but MoDOT hopes the change will improve traffic flow.
MoDOT created the new exit so drivers can go north or south on Lindbergh using the same ramp off I-270 east.
The project actually widens and splits a ramp that’s been in that area for a while – cars have used the ramp to go south on Lindbergh from I-270 east.
But until now, drivers going north on Lindbergh from I-270 east have had to use a separate clover leaf ramp.
That older ramp is going to close as part of the new interchange.
MoDOT says Friday night during off peak traffic hours, I- 270 east in that area will be completely shut down for short periods of time as crews switch out signs.
Saturday morning the new exit ramp will open, the old one will close and the traffic light that is now flashing will start working normally.
The bottom line for drivers – be aware as you make your way through the area because changes begin Saturday.
