Freese and Beltran Homer, Cards Beat Giants 6-4 in Game 1 of NLCS
David Freese and Carlos Beltran each hit two run home runs to lead the Cardinals to a 6-4 win over the San Francisco Giants in Game 1 of the National League Championship series.
Freese gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning and Beltran’s two run shot capped a four run 4th inning to put the Redbirds up 6-0. The Giants would rally with four runs of their own in the 4th inning to chase Cardinals starting pitcher Lance Lynn.
But the Cardinals bullpen threw five and a third innings of scoreless relief to secure the win. The victory gives the Cardinals a 1-0 lead in the best of seven NLCS against the Giants. The two teams will play Game 2 on Monday night in San Francisco. You can see the game right here on Fox 2. Our pregame coverage begins at 6:00 pm.
