Giants Dominate Cards 7-1 in Game 2, Even NLCS at 1-1
ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – The Giants evened the National League Championship Series at one game apiece with a dominating 7-1 win on Monday night in San Francisco. Chris Carpenter was hit hard, touched for five runs in four innings pitched, although just two of the runs were earned. Matt Holliday was involved in a controversial play at 2nd base in the first inning. Holliday’s hard take out of Giants 2nd baseman Marco Scutaro, caused a left hip injury to Scutaro, but not before his three run double off Carpenter gave the Giants a 5-1 lead. Scutaro had x-rays on his left leg, they were negative.
The NLCS now shifts to St. Louis for games 3, 4 and 5. Those games will be on Wednesday afternoon at 3 pm, then Thursday and Friday nights, both games at 7 pm. All Cardinals playoff games can be seen right here on Fox 2.
Sports reporter Maurice Drummond is with the Cardinals and files this post game report after the 7-1 loss.
