SLPS Regain Provisional Accreditation

(KTVI) – There was a huge step forward for the St. Louis Public School District fight for its accreditation.

The state board of education voted to reclassify the district as provisionally accredited.

The district asked the state for a review after a report showed the district met seven of its 14 performance standards this year up from just three in 2009.

“I think it’s significant and I think it only happened because of people who worked really hard to look closely at the data to support their achievement to make sure the finances are in order,” said Dr. Kelvin Adams, St. Louis Public School District Superintendent. “I think it’s huge.”

The move does not hand the district back over to the school board.
