Matt Carpenter came off the Cardinals bench and hit a two run 3rd inning home run to lift the Redbirds to a 3-1 win over the Giants in Game 3 of the NLCS. The win gives St. Louis a 2-1 series lead. Carpenter replaced Carlos Beltran in the 2nd inning after Beltran suffered a knee injury in the 1st inning. Kyle Lohse pitched into the 6th inning and allowed just one run to get the win. The Cardinals bullpen was again flawless with three and a third innings of scoreless relief. Jason Motte pitched the final two frames to get the save.

Fox 2 Sports reporter Charlie Marlow has the post game story on the Cardinals series leading win.
