ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)– Counterfeit tickets have turned up during the NLCS series in St. Louis.  Cardinal fans were stopped when they tried to enter Busch Stadium Wednesday afternoon.

Cardinal officials say the eight counterfeit tickets were the print-at home kind.  If the Red Birds make it into the World Series the director of ticket sales for the team, Rob Fasoldt, expects to see more fake tickets.  He said, “Typically the larger the magnitude of the vent then you’ll see more of the higher level counterfeit tickets like we did last year for the World Series.”

The fans that purchased the counterfeits lost some money but at the last minute they were able to buy real tickets from the team’s ticket booth.  Cardinal officials say even if people believe a game is sold out there’s always a chance some tickets are still available.

Fasoldt said, “When we are sold out sometimes we’ll even get returns from the visiting team the home team the umpire just a couple hours before game time so we always suggest our fans check cardinals.com periodically to try to see if we have any tickets available.”
