Police Offering Reward In Gun Shop Burglary Case
O’FALLON, IL (KTVI)– At 9:30 Sunday night O’Fallon, Illinois police say two men broke into the Tee Time Lawncare Company at the 1500 block of Frontage Road. They swiped four laptops, soon after they went next door and broke into Ron and Jo’s Fire Arms. The duo grabbed 4 used guns and took off. The gun shop owner says his store is closed while they take stock of their inventory.
“The suspects were caught on video we have pictures. The alarm went off and scared them away after they did the Ron and Jo’s,” said O’Fallon Police Lt. Mick Hunter.
Both businesses declined on camera interviews. However the owner of the gun shop says he’s been at his location for 21 years and has only had 1 break in that happened 14 years ago. He also says 99 percent of his merchandise is locked up in a safe. The thieves were in and out in less than 2 minutes.
“The two suspects are 18 to 20 early 20′s they got in through the rear bay doors on both of the businesses,” said Hunter.
Business owners are working on tougher security measures. Meanwhile, police are hoping the $1,000 reward video and pictures will help them get the thieves and stolen goods off the streets.
“The anonymous callers if they have bought one of the guns or know who has the guns to identify the guns for us so we know the tips are good, ” he said.
