North County Mom Granting Troops Wishes, Celebrating Son
ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – For years, a North County mother has been leading the charge to grant wishes to troops overseas. Julieann Najar runs the group A Soldier’s Wish List, which sends “wished-for” items to troops overseas.
This Veteran’s Day, Najar is also celebrating her son, a former soldier wounded in Iraq. Sgt. Dennis Cabanting , an Army gunner, was wounded six years ago when his armored vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb. That happened on Nov. 10, 2006. They now celebrate Nov. 10 as his “Alive Day”, because he made it through, he got to come home.
A Soldier’s Wish List has a goal of sending 6,000 packages to military members this holiday season filled with everything from candy and socks to golf clubs. It also needs help raising $4,000 for postage.
To grant troops wishes or donate money for postage, go to A Soldier’s Wish List’s website: www.asoldierswishlist.org
A Soldier’s Wish List has granted wishes to 165,000 combat troops through the years.
