Cardinals Release Pitcher Kyle McClellan
ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- The St. Louis Cardinals have give pitcher Kyle McClenllan his unconditional release. The former Cardinals relief pitcher is a Florissant native and Hazelwood West High grad. He pitched for the team from 2008-2011, but missed most of the 2012 season because of elbow and shoulder problems.
The Cardinals also announced they have signed veteran catcher Rob Johnson to a minor league contract with the Triple A Memphis Redbirds. He has also been given a non-roster invite to 2013 Spring Training camp. Johnson, 30, split time between the New York Mets and the Mets Triple-A affiliate Buffalo in 2012.
