(KTVI) – Remember when it was a big deal to call long distance to speak with your relatives on a special day? Those days are long gone. Phone calls are commonplace now.  But speaking with someone is still not the same as seeing them.

There are a variety of services you can now use to video conference with your loved ones. Don’t just talk with your grandparents 2,000 miles away – video chat with them!

Here are some of the options available.

You can choose from a free level or a premium level. The premium always offers more options. It’s great for a one-on-one conversation. It works with both Apple and PC computers.

FACETIME: http://www.apple.com/mac/facetime/
This is a great option between Apple devices or Macs. 

GOOGLE PLUS HANGOUTS: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/hangoutplugin
Want to talk with up to 10 people on different devices? Hangouts is the new favorite for many people. If you have a gmail account or use Google Plus, it’s easy to set up and use.


Other services you might want to consider. Often used for corporate meetings, you can share your computer screen as well as a web cam.
