ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – A south St. Louis man is dead after police say he was hit by a suspected drunk driver.
The crash happened about 2:50 am Friday morning on Manchester in west St. Louis near the St. Louis Marketplace.
Manchester in the area was shut down for several hours early this morning as police accident reconstruction crews tried to piece together what took place.
Police say 26-year-old Brandon Jennings was on his way home from work and was crossing Manchester when he was hit by a Honda Accord.
Someone called 911 after seeing Jennings.
Police rushed to the scene and found Jennings lying in the street.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators tell us the accord driver did stop after the crash and was cooperative with officers.
Police say the driver was arrested on suspicion of D.W.I.
At this point, authorities are only identifying the driver as a 26 year old white man.
We saw his car being towed from Schaefer Place—a short street about a block away from the scene.
No official charges have been filed yet; police say charges likely won`t be filed today.
