IL State Trooper Killed In Crash Volunteered For Shift
LITCHFIELD, IL (KTVI)– An Illinois State Trooper was killed during the line of duty volunteered for the shift.
State police officials say Kyle Deatherage usually worked an overnight shift. However, he loved motorcycles and offered to take a daytime shift so he could ride since the weather was nice.
Deatherage died Monday during a traffic stop along I-55 north of Litchfield. A tractor trailer hit him.
There are no charges yet, but state police are still investigating.
Services for the married father of two will be held at his alma mater Triad High School in Troy, Illinois.
The memorial fund for Trooper Deatherage is at Scott Credit Union located 12455 Route 143 in Highland, IL (618-345-1000).
