Police Track Suspect In SE Missouri Kidnapping, Stabbing To St. Louis
ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – A man was locked up in St. Louis City for possibly stabbing his girlfriend and kidnapping two children in Bollinger County, a hundred miles away.
An otherwise quiet but busy night all changed at the Courtesy Diner on South Kingshighway. That was around 2:30am Friday morning. No witnesses would go on camera, but everyone inside got a bit of a shock when they looked out the back door.
One witness said he saw 13 police cars all stop an orange Ford Mustang in the back parking lot. St. Louis City police handcuffed a 32-year-old white male and put him in the back of a police van. Another witness said she saw him coughing and choking. That is when St. Louis City Fire medics took care of the suspect on the scene. Police then took him to jail.
City officers also said the man was wanted for a warrant out of Bollinger County, about two hours south of St. Louis and just outside of Cape Girardeau. Unconfirmed reports indicated the man stabbed his girlfriend and took her children, 6 and 8 years old.
There were no children with the man when he was arrested. The suspect reportedly said he had custody and the children were with his mother.
City police said the Bollinger County Sheriff`s Department started following the suspect, not by car, but with his cell phone. Officers kept track of which cell towers his phone connected with as he made his way to St. Louis.
There is no word on the condition of the suspect`s girlfriend or her children. City officers said they will probably not charge the suspect. But, they prepare to transfer him to Bollinger County.
